Promoters in general won't go near this music so we have to find another way...
I offered the suggestion (based on recent house concerts) that things work better when somebody local is arranging things this nearly always seems to be the case ...especially for shows on the other side of the planet.
The other thing was that people should pay what they want to pay to see a show. Tickets can be set at say $10 but if it's important to you then you can pay anything from $10 up to the cost of the concert to help make things happen...also if you are unaware of the music you can come in for free...:-)
How does it work ?? Well it's easy some folks will sponsor shows i.e. $500 or £200 etc etc and some will just pay for a ticket or two and some who are curious will just turn up for free... it's just a way to get heard and a way to make things happen.
Of course if you buy a share of the concert you can sell parts of that share to friends and we can also try and help you move those 'tickets' so it doesn't cost you too much...and of course no money changes hands until the night of the show.
This is starting to get exciting although it will take time to grow...it means there will be an appreciative audience at the gig and that concerts will happen, it's about the community which i hope will also be said of this message board as it grows:-)
I will list possible gigs on each of the tour boards and as such folks can join in as they please. I will try to make a local contact and between this site , www.insignificance.co.uk and the reverb nation mailshot I hope we can drum up the necessary support.
I will still except gigs in the normal way both solo and for the JYB and hopefully over the years this will lead to more regular shows.
Any thoughts or questions more than welcome as always....
